Salisbury Cathedral
Beautiful City with its famous Cathedral enshrining 700 years of English history.
This is the only medieval cathedral in England to be built throughout in the same Early English style. Started in 1220, it was completed in 1258- except for the spire, the tallest in England, which was added a generation later and rises to over 400 feet. In the early thirteenth century a new cathedral, close and town were built on meadowland with plentiful space and water; the original site, on nearby Old Sarum hill-fort, shared with the castle, was cramped and inconvenient.
